Caulerpa taxifolia Removal - Thurs 16th
Unfortunately,
this dive had to be postponed due to minor troubles with the ProDive boat.
A NSW Fisheries Aquatic Pests officer, James Sakker, will be on hand on
future Caulerpa dives to provide training. Divers will be taught how to
recognise Caulerpa taxifolia as well as the native seagrasses this
work is designed to protect. James Sakker will describe the preferred
method of removing and bagging the weed in order to minimise any fragmentation
and further distribution of Caulerpa taxifolia.
Previous dives have shown that the weed is fairly abundant in the North
Harbour Aquatic Reserve.

the scenic views! Newcomers will learn new skills while regenerating the
natural bushland around Reef Beach.
Bush regeneration at this site is conducted in conjunction with the National
Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS). NPWS provide training for beginners
so that everyone could get involved no matter what their level of experience.
