Bush Regeneration - Reef Beach - Sun 17th

URG HarbourKeepers Fish Survey - Sun 17th

Grey Nurse Shark Presentation - Sydney CBD - Tue 12th

The Grey Nurse Shark population on the east coast of Australia is critically endangered (IUCN Red List of Threatened Species) with fewer than 500 individuals remaining. They are an inconic species whose loss would be a tragedy with unforeseen consequences to NSW's marine ecosystems. The Department of Primary Industries (DPI) will present an overview of past, current and future research on the east coast population of Grey Nurse Sharks for NPA members and volunteers.

The presentation will provide a general overview of the biology, reproduction and population status of the grey nurse shark. It will focus on areas where past research has been conducted including distribution, abundance & population size. It will examine migratory movements, threats, population trajectories and genetics. It will also discuss the current SEACAMS, pop-up archival tagging program and artificial breeding program.

The presentation will start at 18.30 in the Sydney CBD at a location to be advised. Bookings are essential so reserve a place by emailing Dave at info@harbourkeepers.org.au or call 02 9299 0000.
